Frolain and I went to NYC this weekend. We spent a while wandering around chinatown, tried a few restaurants from the guidebook I found at the library (which were all excellent), picked a show to see while in line at the TKTS booth, and got vegetarian dim-sum with A.
The show we saw was Company. I liked the presentation, though I hadn't seen it before so I don't know how unusual it was. The actors were also the orchestra; they would walk around the stage and play their scenes carrying their instruments, and when they weren't ina scene would usually sit or stand on various risers around the edge of the stage. Most played several different instruments over the course of the show.
The place we went for dim-sum was entirely vegetarian. I've been to dim-sum in Boston, but hadn't really realized how much less fun it is when I can only eat the sweets until I was able to try everything. They had veggie versions of most of the dishes I see people eating here, so I got to try them all.
I usually plan my trips in more detail, but I enjoyed just wandering around and relaxing because we didn't have anywhere we had to be.
