- Our washer broke irreparably last weekend.  This sucks.  I spent reasonable amounts of time trying to get a used one off craigslist without success.  We're going to look into the Sears scratch and dent store and appliance shops that fix them up now.  Sometimes I don't like being a homeowner.  Though I suppose waiting for my landlord to not fix it would also suck.
- The contractors for the downstairs kitchen remodel are not getting back to me on an updated quote.
- Work is still stupid hosing and I am feeling burnt out and stressed.
- I accidentally painted the cat yesterday.  (Sj points out that it sounds more like she painted herself.)  She is now orange with green highlights. I think it will be fine, except for possible increased puking when she grooms it off.

+ Got more work done on repainting the grape arbor (related to the cat problem, yes.)  It is now mostly done, and about as much as I can do until more leaves fall.  I've also planted hundreds of spring bulbs, and some end-of-season perennials, so while the yard looks sad now (fall is not a season I've worked on,) it will look good in the spring, and better in the winter this year than it did last.
+ Got a promotion and raise a couple weeks ago. This is just a title change, no job duties change, and I am surprisingly ambivalent about it.  See above re: burnt out.
+ Found a pear cider I like that the wine and cheese cask stopped carrying in the local liquor store.
+ Talked to [livejournal.com profile] miraclaire  about an interesting knitting site last night.  This may not be a huge win if it sucks in my time, but oh well.
+ For major making-me-happy win, realized I can make some of my old boxy button down shirts into fitted shirts with a small application of time and sewing machine.  I even managed to hide the stain on the front of one I love in a dart, which means I can start wearing it again.
+ I'm successfully not-dying in the irish dance class.  This is good, and kind of amazing knees-wise.  The exercise is probably excellent for me, too.  Exercise is hard when your knees and wrists suck.
+ [livejournal.com profile] frolain  and I are going to his sister's cabin in Maine this week, for some vacation in a place that is not Boston.  I plan on using their canoe and sitting in front of the fireplace.

I've been meaning to get a new washer one of these days (as mine is getting a little old but is still functional), but I wasn't planning to do it soon enough to sell the one that I have to solve your immediate problem. :-(

(The Maine cabin sounds like an excellent weekend plan! One can't complain about family with cabins...)

Saldy, I think we managed to get rid of all our extra washers. There is also the Building Materials Resource Center. I don't know if washers are something they have in stock often, but they are on their list of accepted items. You may also be able to find a better new deal than you expect. Retailers are starting to cut prices earlier and lower than usual in anticipation of a poor holiday retail season. (I did clothes shopping on Friday and it was mostly about half off with another 20% of my purchase back in a gift card I can redeem for the next two weeks, or some such. I don't really expect deals like that in mid-October for in-season items.)

I've been to the BMRC, and didn't see any appliances there. We did get an inexpensive rain barrel from them, which I'm happy with, but it's not the same. :)

Have you seen www.craftster.org?

I hadn't made the connection between your knees and you doing Irish dancing--that is amazing. I'm glad your knees are up to it.

Nope, I haven't. I'll have to check it out.

I'm pretty glad my knees are dealing. They seem to be hitting an almost normal much of the time level, which is pretty cool.
