The bees are back

...in my neighborhood at least.  One of my neighbors keeps a honey bee hive, which had disappeared, then reappeared looking lonely and abandoned.  I was sad, because the idea of people keeping bees and getting their own honey in the city appeals to me, and because bees are fabulous pollinators.  While planting a pot of bee balm a few days ago, I watched a stream of bees coming in and out of the hive, which is now active again.  I don't know if it was moved temporarily, or if it suffered colony collapse disorder and they've now gotten a new one, but I'm glad to have them back.
