I went to see Stardust with a mob last night. I think they generally did an excellent job. They've made some changes from the book, but most were pretty defensible as needed to adapt it to a movie. Some annoyed me, but I think that's going to happen with any set of changes. There was a preview for an adaptation of The Dark is Rising which, in contrast, looked bloody awful.
There was a bad splice in the print which caused a framing error partway through. The projectionist eventually fixed the framing problem, but I went up to the manager after the movie to let her know there was a problem with the print, so they can actually fix it, and, after asking if I was a projectionist, she basically offered me a job. I was amused.
