Somerville Garden Club
Aug. 11th, 2005 09:50 amI went to the Somerville Garden Club meeting last night, after missing last month's because it wasn't in the usual location and I didn't want to drive to it. The meeting was quite small but interesting. I got a miniature hosta in the plant raffle, and our new neighbors were there. If there's anyone who likes gardening in the Boston area (you don't have to live in Somerville itself) and wants to know about the club, let me know. The club's annual Perennial and House Plant Sale is going to be Sat Sept 17 from 9am-1pm in Davis Square. The sale is a wonderful chance to get very inexpensive plants. I will be digging up some of the plants in my old yard and donating them to the sale if I can find time. This is unfortunately the weekend of my company's annual support meeting, and thus the only saturday of the year I am expected to work. I may be there for the very beginning and then show up at the work meeting.
For anyone who hasn't noticed, this weekend there is no sales tax in MA. We'll be going shopping for all the things the house needs in between moving Alex and Laurel and me teaching karate. The house is starting to shape up, though I still can't find anything and spend approximately 6 hours a night working on minor repairs, cleaning, and unpacking. Soon I will be able to have a life again!
